Life would have been meaningless  if challenge never existed.

      Lilly lay on her stomach on the sitting room sofa, playing a game on her phone. This attitude had become her daily routine for the past few weeks after trying unsucessfuly to get a job. She has traveled all along in her job hunt without involving any body. And having tried and failed, she momentarily give up the search in frustration, and depended on her parents for support until something concrete came up. 

Remaining in That position almost all morning, her stomach began to ache. She figured it was time to prepare lunch so she could eat something since she hadn't eaten anything. Moreover her siblings would soon come back from school and food had to be ready before they arrived, or else there would be trouble, especially from 6-year-old Kennedy, whose appetite for food is almost insatiable. As she sauntered into the kitchen with sleepy eyes, something caught her attention. She noticed an ant lifting a food particle four times its size off the kitchen table. It dragged the particles along the wall daringly, a few times, and then on its way. Suddenly, other ants immediately gathered around as if following a trail, helping it to drag the food towards their destination. Lilly watched on with deep admiration for a while, and then decided to disturb the pattern. Using her index finger, she extricted the fragment from the grip of the ants, and nudged it some distance away from their procession, injuring one of them in the process. But didn't deter them.  They quickly came together, evacuated the wounded ant, then recognized themselves after locating the food fragment again, and continued on the trail they had created. Lilly was so fascinated that long after the ants had disappeared, she stood still, looking at the crack in the wall through which they had vanished.

That experience taught her a vital lesson about her situation. Right there and then, she snapped out of her mood decidedto resume her job hunt, involving other people this time round.

    The ants have been so famous in all ages for their foresight, economy and industry. These tiny creatures, which form their colonies of varying sizes in many parts of the earth, can survive in most ecosystems due to their ability to adapt to any habitat, organising themselves, exploit available food resources and defend themselves against external aggression. The colonies they form ranges from collection of few individual ants living together in a small enclave to a much more organized and larger territory, which may consists of thousands or millions of individual ants. The ant colonies are described as SuPeRoGaNiSmS  with all the individual ants forming the colony working together to support the colony as a single unified host. The society of ant is so organized that in every colony, there are different castes of ants such as Soldiers, Workers, Drones, King, Queen  each performing different tasks that are essential to their survival.

Wisdom From The Ant

   One of the foremost lessons the ant teaches us is the need to be purposeful. Ants are a very organized and purpose-driven set of creatures. Every caste in a colony knows exactly what it's job description is and what it should be engaged in at a particular time, and it sets out to do it without sluggishness or reluctance. 

  For example, the queen ants are founder of all the colonies as a result of their stronger and larger nature. Soldier ants protect their colonies from attacks and also use their strengths and mandibles to crack open hard seeds and carry larger objects. although the worker ants are the smallest of all the ants,  they do the most work. It is the duty of Some to  forage for food from around the nest, some look after the queen and brood,  while others maintain and expand the nest. Every ant understands it's tasks and dedicates all its time and energy into archiving optimum success without necessarily been supervised. Purpose is a very important driving force in life. Just like the ants you must the purpose of living, the purpose of where you are and purpose of where you are heading to.

    The ants are very intelligent creatures that works with clear foresight.  They Prepare Their food well ahead of time, knowing very well that time and seasons change.

Like a person who has learnt to make hay while the sun shines. Ants secure their food and store provisions during harvest time in summer, the warmest season of the year, in anticipation of the winter period,  the coldest season of the year, when they may not find sufficient food. This is a clear contrast of the lazy person who sleeps in harvest, and enguages in trivialities when he should actually be employed in productive enterprise. This is a vital lesson eveyone must learn. It is important  that you learn how to set your priorities right, and prepare yourself for the rainy day. In doing this, you must make sure your priorities are not dictated by what you feel like doing at a particular time, but by what the most important thing to do is. Just like the ants, the only and safest way to ensure that you maximize every moment and save yourself from the harrowing experiences of  Unexpected circumstances is to prepare yourself well ahead of time because no one is an island of knowledge and it is very true that achievers achieves when they work as a team or for a purpose. 

    Ants understand this consequently, they work together and as a team and for the team. Every time and everything an ant does is for the utmost benefits of the colony. Apart from their working together as a team, ants have a knack for sharing everything among themselves. For example, whenever an ant finds food, it leaves pheromone trails on the path that leads to their colony, so that other ants can follow and locate it. They carry the food resource together and find their way back together. 

  In that aspect, you should be a team player, don't be a lone ranger or dis-associate yourself with others and expect to archive much, learn to cope with others in order to meet up with your target. Working successfully as a team however, demands respect, patience, tolerance, humility, understanding and love.

     Ants are also epitome of industry. Although they are small and feeble creatures, they employ great diligence to providing for the foods they eat. Travelling far distances,  climbing over walls,  tree, high and low places and everywhere they can get their food. In the course of foraging, they are not hindered by obstacles or  disappointments rather they find a way to tackle their problems. If a marked path to a food source is blocked by obstacles, foraging ants don't just give up and turn back, they leave the path to explore new routes to the food source. Any ant that is successful just returns home to inform the others, leaving a new trail on the ground that will enable others to locate the food and  other ants will reinforce it better until the task is concluded. 

   More over an an ant can lift an object twenty times its weight. In a documentary aid by BBC, ants were seen constructing a makeshift rafter to cross a flooded area in the forest. At another time they were seen building a bridge to allow the queen ant and it's younger ones to cross a swampy area. The bridge in question were made up of leaves and the ants themselves. That's industry, that dexterity,  that's the ability to get tasks done, no matter how hard it is. Ants are self-starter, they get down to work without supervision or coercion.  "which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her food in summer, and gathereth her food in harvest." They have no supervisor pushing them around or telling them what to do before they get their work done. 

    Don't wait to be commanded, given incentives or even threatened into action before you delivering your job. Always take initiatives, be self motivated, resourceful, courageous and have the zeal to deliver your task.

     Success in life isn't based on physical stature, appearance or strength  but on  wisdom and hard work. This is one of the lessons the ant teaches us, not withstanding it's size and rating among the animal, it accomplishes much because it is wise and industrious. 

  Only the wise finds best solutions to predict how tomorrow will be without failure.
